autism & asperger's (asd)

Autism Asperger's Picture
We regularly evaluate and treat children on the autism spectrum, and can be particularly helpful assisting with mood or behavioral concerns your child may have. We can partner with your therapist to ensure you and your child get the psychiatric support you need to feel confident and thrive, and can also help with therapy referrals if you are unsure where to start.

Our practice staff is well aware of how sensitive to medications children on the spectrum can be, and we take a cautious approach to medications while integrating other aspects of healthy living (e.g. therapy, diet, exercise, supplements).
Your child deserves the very best care possible, and you deserve the peace of mind and convenience that comes from knowing you have a provider who will partner with you in giving them that care in a safe, conservative, and convenient environment.

what can I expect
when i bring my child to BLOOM MENTAL HEALTH ?

PARENTS KNOW BEST:
You know more about your child than anyone. You know how they react to things, what makes them upset, and what makes them happy. Most importantly, you know what makes them uniquely special. At Bloom, your knowledge and opinions about your child are priceless, and we want you to be involved in each step of the diagnosis and treatment process.

PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO YOUR CHILD:
No more rushed, cookie-cutter appointments. At Bloom, we recognize that your child is unique and should be treated that way, not as "just the next patient". We will take as much time as you and your child need to feel heard, and to understand the journey back to wellness.

RESULTS ORIENTED:
You are consulting us to solve a problem, and your child deserves a clear, practical solution. No more confusing, vague "therapy words" and fuzzy treatment goals. We will communicate with you in clear, goal-oriented language that shows how to make your child's life better.

EFFICIENT CARE TO FIT YOUR BUSY LIFE:
Being a kid is an 80  hour/week job. Every week is a packed schedule of school, shores, homework, sports, church, appointments, and family time. And being the parent to this 80 hour/week kid can feel even more overwhelming. We understand how busy your schedule is, and deliver highly efficient care that respects your time and aims to get your child feeling better as soon as possible. Most of the visits and prescriptions can be done remotely, even from your phone, so you don't have to take a sick day and they don't have to miss school.

NO-RUSH APPROACH TO MEDICATIONS:
Deciding whether to start your child on a medication is a big step. We absolutely respect this, and will take as much time as you need to ask questions and decide what medications, if any, would benefit your child. You will never be pushed or rushed into giving your child a medication they don't need.

NATURAL TREATMENTS ARE EXCELLENT:
There are many roads to wellness, and many do not involve prescription medication. At Bloom we delight in finding safe, natural, healthy solutions to your child's concerns. Many mental health concerns can be treated through changes in diet, supplements, sleep, or even the amount of light in their environment. We look forward to discussing these non-medication treatment options with you.

BRING YOUR RESEARCH:
We love discussing the latest research and ideas about treating your child's condition. Whether it is school reports, data from the pediatrician, neuropsychological testing, neuroimaging, laboratory results, or even the latest research article, we are more than happy to go as deep into the medical science as you want, and talk about anything you have been reading or thinking about. Your child deserves the best, cutting edge care, and that includes analyzing any tests and new research related to their condition.

YOU HAVE OPTIONS:
Your child deserves the absolute best care from a provider who understands you and your child. We are so committed to this that if there are any concerns or questions that we cannot solve, no matter how slight, we will be delighted to offer a second clinical opinion referral, and we will give you the contact information to other reputable practices in town that we often consult with. In fact, we will often suggest that you consider a second opinion outside of our practice if you have any concerns, or simply want another perspective.
